    LNG:ECR Seminar & Networking Evening – October 2022 – Call For Speakers

    LNG:ECR Seminar & Networking Evening
    October 2022

The Liverpool Neuroscience Early Career Research group (LNG:ECR) is hosting an in-person Seminar & Networking Event on Thursday 20th October 2022 at 2pm.

Location: TBC- Likely to be LJMU’s Student Life Building on Copperas Hill.

This is a new format event – put together with ECRs (of all stages) in mind – part workshop, part networking event; The aim is to learn about good presentation techniques (from a experienced lecturer), and to get to know fellow neuroscientists from across the city region.

In the first half: short presentations by ECRs (like you!) about their research will be followed by friendly discussions. In the second half: Dr. David Carey (Bangor University) will lead a session on giving an effective & engaging Neuroscience presentation.

    About Dr. David Carey

    Reader in Psychology, Bangor University

David Carey studies sensorimotor control processes in healthy volunteers and neurological patients. Current projects include recording and quantifying manual asymmetries in left-handers and right-handers and quantification of attentional biases towards the preferred hand, which may prove a useful marker for cerebral asymmetries for speech and language.

Dr. Carey is an enthusiastic and engaging lecturer, and he’s kindly accepted our invite (and challenge!) to present on presenting effectively [as a neuroscientist].

LNG:ECR is the multi-disciplinary special interest group of young researchers (students, postdocs, PIs) from across the city, with research spanning many diverse areas in neuroscience.

The target audience is new PIs, postdocs and PhD students from the Neuroscience research community, but all are welcome. It will be a great networking opportunity, so we are looking forward to seeing you all in person.

    What’s a Preregistration Poster?

Preregistration posters give the opportunity to submit plans for studies yet to be undertaken, rather than work that has already been completed.

Preregistration posters should include the following elements:

    • Introduction (background, context, and reasons for carrying out the study etc)
    • Methods (how the hypothesis will be tested)
    • Approach for statistical analysis (what are the primary outcomes, how the data be analysed, what statistical tests will be used etc)
Little / no data is expected  (beyond any preliminary work that helped to generate the research question).

Please use the links below to share this with colleagues who may not be part of the LNG network (yet!).
